These machines are often offered at low prices. However, they come with huge risks attached. Firstly, you could face problems with servicing and getting suitable spare parts. More seriously, if a non-CE-certified machine is involved in an accident, the machine's owner is liable and will have to pay the potentially huge costs. In addition, tampering with the CE mark or declaration of conformity could result in criminal proceedings against anybody directly or indirectly involved. So the next time you're buying a machine, whether new or used, look for the CE mark and check it meets the official rules. Also make sure the machine has an official, legitimately issued declaration of conformity. If you are in any doubt over the authenticity of the machine's CE certification, immediately contact the manufacturer or your local dealer quoting the vehicle's serial number. One phone call could prevent a dangerous and very costly mistake.
